Joe Otterson TV Reporter “Presumed Innocent” has been renewed for Season 2 at Apple TV+. The streamer claims that the show is the most-viewed drama in the platform’s history since its premiere on June 12, although it should be noted that Apple does not provide viewership information to back up that claim.
The renewal news comes ahead of the season finale on July 24. Per Apple, the new season will focus on an entirely new case. Apple is not confirming if Gyllenhaal will return to star in the second season, depending on the events of the season finale. “Presumed Innocent” is based on the novel of the same name by Scott Turow.
Gyllenhaal stars in the series as Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor who is accused of the murder of one of his colleagues. The cast also includes Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Peter Sarsgaard, O-T Fagbenle, and Renate Reinsve.
David E. Kelley serves as showrunner and executive producer via David E. Kelley Productions, with Matthew Tinker of DEKP also executive producing.
