A Manchester-based police officer has been sacked for 'seeking the services of a sex worker' while on a training course in London staying in accommodation funded by his force.

The actions of Abdur-Rehman Adam, a former constable, 'undermine public trust and confidence in policing', a chief constable has ruled.

She said what he did was also 'inconsistent with the commitment of policing to address violence against women and girls'. Former PC Adam was based in Manchester with British Transport Police.

He was a serving officer since 2021. He was dismissed from the force after a misconduct hearing chaired by BTP Chief Constable Lucy D'Orsi at the force's headquarters in Camden, London.
