Perthshire amateur Gregor Graham savoured the “absolutely amazing” feeling of winning a top Scottish pro event this week.The 19-year-old clinched victory at the Tartan Pro Tour’s Blairgowrie Perthshire Masters at his home course.He carded impressive scores of 68, 67 and 69 to finish the tournament on 12-under par, one clear of second-placed John Henry.“It is absolutely amazing and always nice to get a win, especially towards the end of the season,” Graham told the PA.“Paul Lawrie giving us invites to play in these events is great and it gives the chance to test our skills.

It is a great accomplishment for me to be able to win this week.“I’ve played a couple of high-profile amateur events at Blairgowrie before.“But this was pretty cool.

I had my family members and other club members out watching.”Graham was aware that he would need to be in top form to have any chance and required a birdie blitz towards the end of the final round to get the job done.“You can see throughout the year that the guys are shooting low numbers,” he said.“I knew going into the event that I would need to score low.“I was in a good position after the first couple of days and then managed to play some solid stuff in the last round where it was a lot trickier because of the wind.“I knew I was three behind with nine to play but I had made up some ground heading into the last five holes.“I made three birdies in the last four holes to get it done.

It was really nice to get the job finished.”Graham, with a smile, added: “I had a nice pint afterwards. That was on my dad!”This was Graham’s first win of the year but he has enjoyed plenty of high moments.He said: “I’ve had a pretty solid season, playing a lot of good stuff.“I struggled a little towards the
