Person dies after E.Coli outbreak linked to cheese

A person has died following an outbreak of E. coli in the UK, health officials said. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said one person in Scotland died from the infection, which is understood to be linked to a brand of cheese.

30 confirmed cases of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli, (Stec) have been recorded across England and Scotland in patients aged seven to 81.

The UKHSA said investigations were continuing into any common links between cases, including links to the recalled cheeses. coli contamination. They warned the cheeses may have been included in Christmas hampers or been given as gifts. Smoked Lancashire, Mature Lancashire, Tasty Lancashire, and Mild and Creamy Lancashire are among the affected cheeses made by the company, based in Mill Lane, Preston.
