Manchester City's Oscar Bobb is ready to fight for a first-team spot now that Julian Alvarez is following Cole Palmer out the door at the Etihad.

The 21-year-old earned Pep Guardiola's approval last season and featured for City towards the campaign's end. These appearances were a sign of the manager's faith in him, which has spilt over into this summer's league preparations.

Bobb made an impact with a goal and two assists in City's narrow 4-3 defeat by Celtic in their first friendly. He continued his fine form with contributions against AC Milan and netting in the 4-2 victory over Chelsea.

His sights are now set on making a mark in the upcoming Community Shield clash with Manchester United on August 10th.
