The UK and Republic of Ireland’s bid for the championships went uncontested after Turkey pulled out to partner with Spain to host the 2032 edition.
The likes of the Etihad Stadium, Wembley and St James’ Park all made the cut but Old Trafford is not on the list, the reason for which has been outlined below.
The host nations are pushing to go through the qualification process to help them better prepare for the tournament. Scotland are included in that but are concentrating on their upcoming fixtures and are hoping that Scott McTominay can continue his fine international form after dramatically netting twice for United against Brentford on Saturday.
