Christian Eriksen believes there are two main reasons why Manchester United have struggled for form in the opening weeks of the new season.
Erik ten Hag's side are 10th in the Premier League table heading into the latest international break and are yet to pick up a point in the Champions League after two defeats from two.
United did manage to go into the break on a high, though, after a dramatic late double from Scott McTominay salvaged an otherwise disappointing performance against Brentford at the weekend. Eriksen accepts that performance levels haven't been good enough, particularly in defence, but also believes an unfortunate injury record has contributed to their poor start. "I think you should ask the coach what he thinks," he told reporters while away on international duty. "We have been hit hard by injuries in defence.
