The 36-year-old Serbian tennis player defeated Daniil Medvedev to win the men’s final match on Sunday (September 10) at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York City. Novak just extended his record grand slam singles titles to 24 and celebrated the moment by paying tribute to his late friend Kobe Bryant, who wore the number 24 while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.
After the big win, Novak shared hugs and kisses with his family, including wife Jelena and their two kids Stefan, 8, and Tara, 6.
Check out the pics in the photo gallery! Novak won the match in three straight sets, 6-3, 7-6, 6-3. He now matches Margaret Court‘s record for the most all-time grand slam titles and is just one title away from the record.
In a recent interview, Novak discussed his “zero regret” for skipping U.S. tournaments over his refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
