The contributions made by Ayrshire and Arran’s NHS staff and volunteers was recognised at the recent Ayrshire Achieves awards.

The event paid tribute to the health workers and volunteers in the region who have gone above and beyond.The winners, announced on the night, were:Chairperson’s award - Adult Community Mental Health Service, which is a multi-disciplinary service in North Ayrshire, providing care and treatment of adults experiencing mental health illness. Behind the Scenes - George Higgins, Porter in University Hospital Crosshouse.

He was nominated for his kindness to colleagues, and his charity work supporting children in hospital. Care and Compassion - Isabel Wilson, Staff Nurse in University Hospital Crosshouse.
