The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has said that new claims for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) are being prioritised over existing claimant reviews to ensure people can access financial support “in a timely manner”.
Those already on PIP coming to the end of their award will see their payments automatically continued until a review can be conducted - there will be no breaks in payments.
Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work, Tom Pursglove MP confirmed the details in a recent written response to Labour MP Vicky Foxcroft after she had asked what the DWP was doing to clear the current backlog of PIP reviews.
Mr Pursglove said: “We are committed to ensuring people can access financial support through Personal Independence Payment in a timely manner.
