Netflix removing much-loved and critically acclaimed series in matter of days
manchestereveningnews.co.ukA fan-favourite Netflix original is set to be removed from the streaming service this month. The Alienist, based on the best-selling book by Caleb Carr, stars Daniel Bruhl, Luke Evans and Dakota Fanning.
The psychological thriller, made up of two seasons, is set in 1896 New York. It follows criminal psychologist Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, newspaper illustrator John Moore and police department secretary Sara Howard as they attempt to hunt down a never-before-seen ritualistic killer responsible for the gruesome murders of male prostitutes.
The show's synopsis reads: "The brilliant, obsessive Kreizler is known as an alienist -- one who studies mental pathologies and the deviant behaviours of those who are alienated from themselves and society. "His job, along with his controversial views, makes him a social pariah in some circles.
But helped by a band of outsiders, Kreizler's tireless efforts eventually answer the question behind what makes a man into a murderer." The seasons ran from 2018 until 2020 - and both are set to be removed from Netflix on August 11.
