The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of Star Trek: The Next Generation star Patti Yasutake, who has passed away at the age of 70.

Patti, beloved for her role as Nurse Alyssa Ogawa in Star Trek: The Next Generation, died on Monday, 5 August, after a battle with cancer, her representative confirmed.

Speaking to Variety, Patti's long-time manager Kyle Fritz shared: "Patti was my first client when I began over 30 years ago.

We enjoyed every day we got to work together, and I will miss her spirit talent and tenacity but most of all her friendship." The actress first gained recognition in Hollywood with her appearance in Ron Howard's Gung Ho in 1986 and remained a constant figure on screen with her notable stint on Star Trek: The Next Generation from its fourth season in 1990 up until its final season in 1994.
