Neighbour of house struck by lightning says woman and two kids fled fire-hit home
dailyrecord.co.ukA Scots neighbour who saw lightning strike a home in his road said a family were "lucky" to get out of the property but "must have lost everything".
Crews were sent from Aviemore and Grantown to tackle the house fire which is understood to have broken out during a big storm earlier this morning.The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they despatched the appliances to the house in Grampian View at the north end of the village.
Fire could be seen blazing from the roof of the property along with billowing smoke. Smoke continues to pour from the property.The incident occurred while there was a huge thunder and lightning storm in the vicinity.
It is understood the blaze was caused by a lightning strike.It broke out just after 10am and brought heavy rain, vivid lightning bolt and some of the loudest thunder to be heard in Aviemore for many years.
