Motherwell star Lennon Miller pens contract extension as new deal offers 'lift' for injured teen

Motherwell midfielder Lennon Miller has penned a new one-year contract extension at Fir Park - in what is a big lift for the injured teenager.The 17-year-old, who is currently sidelined until the new year with a broken patella, has put pen to paper on a deal that ties him to the Steelmen until the summer of 2026.Manager Stuart Kettlewell revealed earlier this month that the club had opened talks over extending his stay and the club have moved swiftly to secure the Scotland youth international's services long-term.Wishaw kid Miller is the club's youngest-ever player after making his first-team debut last season at the age of 16 and he is also their youngest goalscorer, having netted in a League Cup win over Elgin in July.Kettlwell told the Motherwell website: "“This contract extension tees Lennon up for that next chapter of his career.“He’s already ticked off a few important milestones in his young career but for him to know his future is here, gives him good security going forward.“It’s very easy for players to get 13 starts at young ages in the modern game and to think the next chapter could be something different.“It’s important he’s in a place to develop and I believe he’s an example to young modern players to not get too eager for the next opportunity.

It comes naturally when you do good things.“It’s a proper feel good factor for the football club as a whole and I look forward to seeing Lennon back on the pitch.”Miller will be working had to make a speedy recovery from his injury, sustained in a 4-2 defeat to Aberdeen, as he aims to return first team action after the winter break in January.He has made 14 appearances this season and was a regular starter for Kettlewell before his injury.After signing his deal, Miller
