Met Office issues yellow warning for heavy rain in West Lothian this weekend

A yellow weather alert for rain has been issued for West Lothian from tonight as downpours are set to continue into the weekend.Heavy rain is expected to move in from 11pm this evening and the warning is in place from 11pm tonight until 5am on Sunday.Met Office Chief Meteorologist Neil Armstrong said: “Prolonged heavy rain is expected to cause widespread disruption for much of Scotland."While Saturday into Sunday will be widely very wet for Scotland, the heaviest, most disruptive, rain is expected in western and central Scotland, as is reflected in our warnings."Flooding in areas may cut off road access for some communities, with wet conditions likely to lead to bus, train and ferry delays, possible cancellations, as well as tougher driving conditions.

As such, anyone heading outdoors are being urged to be vigilant and plan journeys in advance.Stein Connelly from Transport Scotland said: “Motorists should make sure their routes are available, follow the travel advice from Police Scotland and drive to the conditions.
