A beach and fair in one of Manchester's most popular parks is proving a big hit with families this summer. With parents feeling the pinch of the school holidays, they're flocking to the entertainment inside Heaton Park.

As well as 'the largest sandpit in the north west', which is free to access, the venue's Come To The Beach event features a fairground with almost two dozen rides.

And every Tuesday and Wednesday, visitors can get a wristband for £12.99 for unlimited rides for either a two-and-a-half hour session from 12pm to 2.30pm, or three-and-a-half hour session from 2pm to 5.30pm. Another said: "If you're looking for a fair, Heaton Park fair is better offering 2.5 hours of rides for a wristband price of £12.99 each, works out much cheaper than the Trafford Centre fair." She did say though that without the fair, she'd had a great day at The Trafford Centre's Bright Lights, Big Fun event, which gives you access to the splash zone and beach for £2.75 per person, including booking fees.

The children had also queued for free face painting. Heaton Park's event is free entry and on other days, when the offer isn't running, it costs 25 tokens for £25 or you can buy individual tokens.
