A senior Manchester councillor has been cleared of ‘bullying’ the town hall’s opposition leader and bringing the authority into disrepute - but has been sanctioned for using council resources to make a laminated party political sign.
Labour’s Pat Karney was brought before a standards hearing last month after he stood over Liberal Democrat John Leech in a ‘threatening manner’ at a heated budget meeting last March.
The council’s city centre chief spoke in an ‘abrasive’ manner after signs he had pinned to the wall of the council chamber, spelling out ‘10 years of Tory and Lib Dem Cuts’, were taken down by Coun Leech.
