Manchester City have made a useful habit of selling homegrown players for millions of pounds and this summer could be no exception.
Among those players who could be sold for profit – which would register as pure profit on City's Financial Fair Play accounts – is striker Liam Delap, who has experienced a series of mixed loan moves in recent seasons.
Delap finally found his feet at Hull this season just gone, scoring eight times in the Championship either side of a frustrating injury setback around the turn of the New Year.
He proved a popular signing at the KCOM Stadium, with the Tigers keen to keep him next season in some capacity. "The chairman wants him so badly," he told Hull Live. "If we didn't have Financial Fair Play and EFL regulations he [Chairman Acun Ilicali] would have literally invested in him and tried to buy him.
