A 40-year-old man tragically died after he was found 'unresponsive' by paramedics in Ashton-under-Lyne on Thursday morning (March 14).

Emergency services descended on Holebottom, a quiet residential street near to Broadoak Road, at around 8.30am, following concerns for the welfare of a man.

A number of ambulances attended the scene, with an air ambulance also landing in a field at a nearby school. The man, aged 40, was pronounced dead at the scene. The man's death has now been referred to the coroner's office. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At 8:30am this morning, Greater Manchester Police were called by colleagues at NWAS to reports of an unresponsive man at Holebottom, Ashton-Under-Lyne. "Despite the best efforts of paramedics and those at the scene, a 40 year old man was pronounced deceased.
