Diego Ramos Bechara editor Logan Paul admitted to “spreading misinformation” on social media after wrongly calling Algerian Olympic boxer Imane Khelif a man in a since-deleted X/Twitter post.
After Khelif’s win in a match against Italian boxer Angela Carini at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Thursday, Paul posted on X: “This is the purest form of evil unfolding right before our eyes.
A man was allowed to beat up a woman on a global stage, crushing her life’s dream while fighting for her deceased father. This delusion must end.” Khelif is a woman who is not transgender nor identifies as intersex, according to GLAAD and InterACT.
She was assigned female at birth, the Associated Press reported, and it says so on Khelif’s passport. Paul’s initial post prompted numerous comments calling him out for misinforming his followers about Khelif’s gender.
