nme.comLiam Gallagher has become the face of a new Berghaus ‘ICONS’ campaign.The brand was first founded in Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1966 and launched its signature range of outdoor clothing.
It reached new heights in the ‘80s when it was worn by British mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington – who wore Berghaus when he summited Everest – and then famously appeared on stage in 1997, when Gallagher performed in Oslo as part of Oasis.He wore it during the band’s European leg of their ‘Be Here Now’ tour, and the brand evolved into what Berghaus describes as a “badge of honour across subcultures”, and synonymous with “rave culture, the Madchester scene, and even the football terrace Casuals.”Now, three decades later, Bauhaus has teamed up with the Britpop legend amid news of Oasis’ huge comeback tour.The new range is called ‘ICONS’, and “marks a major moment for the brand, as it embarks on a new chapter of reclaiming its rightful place at the heart of British streetwear”.

He purchased a green one in the late ‘80s and I was always pinching it off him,” Gallagher said in a statement. “They were all the rage and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on one of my own.
