Lanarkshire WWII veteran to take part in Kiltwalk

A 101-year-old World War II veteran from Lanarkshire will be taking part in this weekend’s Kiltwalk to raise funds for the charity among Erskine staff and residents.Sandy Cormack, a former Royal Marine who served as a commando across Europe, will join fellow residents and staff from the Erskine Home in Bishopton to take on the fundraising challenge.

Originally from Airdrie, he enlisted in 1941 and served in the Italian campaign during the war; his corps even prepared to take part in the D-Day landings and although not called upon for that operation, they went on to serve thereafter across France, the Netherlands and Germany.
