Lanark couple thank "amazing" care service as six-decade love story stays on track

A Lanark couple who have been happily married for more than six decades after initially meeting on the town’s railway and who went on to cultivate a landmark local garden have shared how they are kept on track and nurtured thanks to the “amazing” support of South Lanarkshire’s home carers.Christine and Norman Edge first met at Lanark station in the 1950s, when steam engine room fireman Norman would swap shifts to ensure he was on the 07.53 to Glasgow so that he could see Kirkfieldbank secretary Christine each day.Now in their 80s, their love story is still burning brightly and with valuable practical and emotional support from the Clydesdale care at home team from South Lanarkshire university health and social care partnership (HSCP) – which recently received a “glowing” Care Inspectorate report.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
