Fans of the 52 year old TV presenter, who shares Oscar with partner Ben Andersen, believe he's too young to be interrailing around Europe for three weeks without an adult.
One fan expressed their concern and said they would have "never forgiven" themselves "if things had gone wrong" during the lad's lengthy journey. "You can't wrap them up in cotton wool but it can be a dangerous world and 15 is not mature enough for all encounters," another chimed in on X, formerly Twitter.
But Kirstie was quick to jump to her own defence and that of Oscar, who celebrated his 16th birthday on Wednesday, 21 August, about their nine-stop adventure, reports the Mirror. "For obvious budget reasons interrailing isn't on the cards for everyone, but in this increasingly risk-averse world it's vital that we find any ways we can to give our children the confidence that only comes from trusting them," she fired back on Twitter.
