The King is "so proud" of Kate for her "courage in speaking as she did" as the Princess announced her cancer diagnosis to the nation.The Princess of Wales tonight revealed she is battling cancer and is in the early stages of treatment.
In an emotional video message, she told others who are fighting the disease: "You are not alone."Kate spoke about the “huge shock” of the medical development and how her family has experienced an “incredibly tough couple of months”.
Following the announcement at 6pm, Buckingham Palace said the King is “so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did” and he remains in the “closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law”.Buckingham Palace said: “His Majesty is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did’.
Following their time in hospital together, HM has ‘remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks.’“Both Their Majesties ‘will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time’.”The princess was admitted to hospital for abdominal surgery on January 16 and at the time her condition was thought to be non-cancerous but tests after the successful operation found cancer, the type of which has not been disclosed.
