At age 44, Kate Hudson is still seeking romance. The rom-com queen told The View panelists that finding a male lead for her specialty is difficult.
That’s particularly true as the genre has shifted mostly to streaming. “It’s hard to get male movie stars to make rom-coms,” Hudson said. “That’s a big part of the equation.” Her thought is that a certain genre is draining the available pool of eligibles. “If we can get more Marvel guys like … hey, come to do a rom-com!
That’s part of the formula, too,” she said. Hudson’s 2003 hit How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days with Matthew McConaughey still resonates with audiences, Hudson said. “Honestly, I think it was well-written and I think there’s this sort of misconception that a rom-com is supposed to have a certain formula — which it does,” she said. “But we made sure we had a great foundation of a script and then the cast…” Watch the full interview above.
