In last night's premiere episode of the new series, he was seen vomiting before making his unexpected departure.The Channel 4 show did not give an explanation for his exit, however, the singer and actor has attributed it to eating vegan sandwiches.The 57 year old, who lost his ITV judging role in 2021 due to flashing allegations, revealed that this had been the only food available prior to the first task in New Zealand.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian, but they made everybody eat vile tofu. I would never eat tofu in my life, but you're so hungry, you just eat it." Following his meal, John, who suffers from motion sickness, had to endure a two-hour car journey to the task location.
He explained: "Then it was projectile vomit everywhere and the tofu came up. I thought, 'I'm not going to make myself ill or hurt myself in order to try to prove something that I don't need to prove'.
