Joey Essex has said he was conned into promoting a fake cryptocurrency app – which had secured investments of £500,000 before seemingly disappearing.
The former TOWIE star is among several celebs and influencers who had been promoting food delivery app CryptoEats and its EATS Coin over recent weeks, before attending its launch party at a West London club last week.
The business billed itself as being the first food delivery app to allow customers to pay in cryptocurrency and claimed it would rival services such as Deliveroo and UberEats.
However after its launch party last week, all traces of the company’s website and social media accounts have been removed and the app never materialised.
