Project GG director Hideki Kamiya has shared a few more details about the upcoming PlatinumGames title. When asked about Project GG in an interview with Famitsu, Kamitya shared that PlatinumGames co-founder Atsushi Inaba told him that “PlatinumGames will make this kind of game from now on.”“In response to that idea, I expanded it to the current large-scale projects,” shared Kamitya. This seems to tie into Inaba’s statement from earlier this year, which claimed the company would pivot to creating live service titles.Kamiya added that “personally, I didn’t expect [Project GG] to be a game like this”, suggesting the idea has changed significantly from its original concept.Kamiya mentioned that Project GG will have a core feature that’s distinct to it, akin to Bayonetta’s Witch Time and The Wonderful 101’s Unite Morph, although the project as a whole won’t be in the same vein as those games.

PlatinumGames CEO, Atsushi Inaba, has stated he sees NFTs as “frustrating” in a recent interview.In an interview with VGC, Inaba shared his thoughts on NFTs, also known as Non-Fungible Tokens, and he is not impressed. He explained that he sees “no positive impact on creators or users in any sense” adding that the studio had not “really been thinking about” them.Talking to VGC, Inaba explained that he understands “it’s a hot topic right now” and acknowledges it’s “[gaining] momentum”. However, he also points out that it has done this by focusing on “profitability for the company” rather than looking at benefits for players.“The people who are trying to promote NFTs and partner with gaming companies, their conversations seem extremely one-sided,” Inaba explained.

PlatinumGames’ action RPG Scalebound was cancelled in 2017, and now Hideki Kamiya has come out and apologised to both Microsoft and fans over the ordeal.Positioned as an Xbox exclusive, the game would see players control Drew, who could issue commands in combat to his dragon companion Thuban. In a Cutscenes video posted today (as spotted by VGC), Kamiya talked about the games development and eventual cancellation.“We were working in an environment we weren’t used to,” explained Kamiya.
