ITV viewers complain to Ofcom over 'disgusting' comedy dubbed 'British TV's worst ever sitcom’

ITV's new comedy series, Piglets, has been met with a wave of criticism from viewers who have labelled it 'simply offensive'.The show, which premiered over the weekend, follows a group of six diverse rookie cops and their superiors tasked with moulding them into competent officers.The six-part series features Sarah Parish and Mark Heap as tough Superintendent Julie Spry and somewhat less serious Superintendent Bob Weekes, who are responsible for overseeing the training of the new recruits.

However, many viewers were far from impressed with what they saw, with some even expressing their desire to lodge complaints with Ofcom.The controversy surrounding the show began a few weeks ago when its title was criticised by the Police Federation, who described it as 'disgusting' and 'highly offensive'.

Acting National Chair of the Police Federation of England and Wales, Tiffany Lynch, stated that the show's name was 'inflammatory against a landscape of rising threats and violence against officers', and accused it of putting officers 'at further risk for viewing numbers'.

Mukund Krishna, the organisation's chief executive, also revealed plans to write to Ofcom demanding a change.This sentiment was shared by members of the public, with one former police officer posting on X: "I have just watched the first episode of Piglets.
