ITV Dancing On Ice star reveals 'tantrums' and 'unfair rehearsal time' on show

According to ex Dancing on Ice pro skater Daniel Whiston, the celebrities this year have “broken all boundaries” and with just two episodes left, it really is all to play for.

In his new position as associate creative director, Daniel gets to see the good, bad and the ugly throughout the weeks of competition and training.The celebrities train relentlessly to win the show, and Daniel confesses that everyone involved in the ITV series gives it all they have. “It’s been the highest standard we’ve ever seen.

So that means myself and head coach, Karen Barber, are here constantly. It’s super exciting because I can push the celebrities.” Long days at work means Daniel can’t get home to Blackpool to see his nearest and dearest, but says he’s lucky they all support his work. “My partner, my little dog Douglas, my friends, my family, we all know we’re going to lose months to this show,” says Daniel. “So mentally we all have to prepare for that, but I’ve got such a big support network and I’m very lucky to have that.” Last week, Eddie the Eagle was the latest celebrity to leave after a tough skate off against Love Island ’s Amber Davies.

And while the drama is rife on the rink, Daniel reveals so much more goes on behind the scenes. “I’d love to have a camera backstage – that’s where the real show is,” laughs Daniel. “You wouldn’t believe what you were seeing – there are tantrums, tiaras and feathers everywhere, and that’s just the boys.
