Ilana Glazer Shares How Being Pregnant Helped Them Realize They're Non-Binary

In a new interview, the 37-year-old Broad City star came out as non-binary and shared how being pregnant with their daughter helped them realize their true identity. Keep reading to find out more…“Being pregnant on paper was the most female thing I could ever do, but it actually highlighted both the masculine and feminine inside of me,” Ilana told The Independent. “For so long, my masculinity felt like something I had to hide or make a joke of, and my femininity was something that felt like drag.” Ilana, who now uses the she/they pronouns, and husband David Rooklin welcomed their daughter in 2021. Ilana went on to explain that there was always an “element of comedy” to their gender, which limited their “genuine personal experience.” “Then this gift of being pregnant made space for me to be real with myself,” Ilana said.
When asked if coming out as non-binary has changed their everyday life, Ilana responded, “It’s more a point in the process of a long journey of self-actualization.
