manchestereveningnews.co.ukA man tried to kidnap a schoolgirl as she sat at a bus stop, prosecutors allege. Sean Gillings approached the teenager, then 15, on a dark and wet night in Monton, Salford.
He has admitted speaking with the girl, but denies attempting to kidnap her. Mr Gillings, 33, later told police that he wanted to 'mingle' and get her phone number.
Manchester Crown Court heard that the girl was sat at a bus stop in November last year when Mr Gillings approached her. The girl said he said hello before adding: "The bus lines are down and I'm going to have to take you to your destination." She alleged that he asked her name, her age, where she went to school and if she had any siblings. He also asked her phone number and details of her Snapchat account, she said.
