Ipswich Town manager and former Manchester United assistant Kieran McKenna has admitted he still has a close bond with the Reds despite missing out on the top job in the summer.
After leading the Tractor Boys to back-to-back promotions, McKenna's name was flung into the conversation to replace Erik ten Hag in the summer if Ineos were to sack him.
The first few weeks of the summer were fraught with speculation surrounding Ten Hag's future and it was understood McKenna was holding out on committing his future to the Suffolk club in case United sacked their manager.
Eventually, after scouring the managerial market, Sir Jim Ratcliffe decided it best to stick with Ten Hag. McKenna simultaneously signed a new deal committing his future to Ipswich.
