Humza Yousaf was announced as the new leader of the SNP yesterday in an historic moment for Scotland.The Glasgow MSP becomes the first Muslim to lead a major political party in the UK and will become the youngest ever First Minister when he is voted in at Holyrood today.Yousaf, 37, was confirmed as the winner of a long and at times bitter SNP leadership contest triggered by the shock resignation of Nicola Sturgeon last month.But the narrow margin of his victory over rival candidate Kate Forbes suggests he now faces an uphill battle to reunite the party as it prepares for a general election next year.The historic announcement was made at a packed conference suite at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh at 2.10pm yesterday.In his victory speech, Yousaf said he felt like the "luckiest man in the world" after being elected as the new SNP leader.And he pledged to "dedicate every waking moment" to serving the people of Scotland.Yousaf will be the first person from an ethnic minority background to become First Minister - and is also the first MSP not to have entered the Scottish Parliament in 1999 to take the top job.The 37-year old recalled how his grandparents had moved from the Punjab to Scotland more than six decades ago.He said: "As immigrants to this country, who knew barely a word of English, they could not have imagined in their wildest dreams that their grandson would one day be on the cusp of being the next first minister of Scotland.”The new leader continued: "We should all take pride in the fact that today we have sent a clear message, that your colour of skin, or your faith, is not a barrier to leading the country we all call home.“From the Punjab to our Parliament, this is a journey over generations that reminds us
