Hulu Gives Series Order To ‘Chad Powers’ Comedy Based On Eli Manning Sketch; Glen Powell To Star
deadline.comHulu has given a series order to Chad Powers, a half-hour comedy based on an Eli Manning sketch that aired on ESPN+. Glen Powell (Anyone But You) will star in the series that follows a hotshot quarterback whose college career ends after bad behavior.
He then disguises himself as the talented and affable Chad Powers, who walks onto a struggling Southern football team. Co-creators and executive producers are Powell and Michael Waldron (Loki), who also wrote the pilot.
It hails from 20th Television and will stream on Hulu. “We’re both diehard college football fans,” said Powell and Waldron in a joint statement. “When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world.
We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast.” The sketch from former NFL QB Manning was produced by NFL Films and Omaha Productions and aired as part of the Eli’s Places series.
