Hospital trust 'welcomes' latest report on maternity services despite drop in safety rating

Wigan’s maternity services have welcomed praise from inspectors after maintaining a rating of ‘Good’ from the Care Quality Commission.

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (WWL) believed this latest inspection, conducted on May 16, showcased their ‘excellent work’.

The Royal Albert Edward Infirmary was one of many hospitals across the country that underwent an inspection as part of the CQC’s national maternity services inspection programme.

Inspectors’ ratings of the maternity service and the hospital remained the same overall - a rating of 'Good'.
