Fireworks were set off beside passing cars along a main road in Salford on Sunday evening (June 16). Police have slammed the reckless incident, that could have 'resulted in a serious accident', with an investigation now underway.
Smoldering fireworks were later left dumped by the roadside on Manchester Road East (A6), which runs through Walkden and Little Hulton.
Greater Manchester Police said a number of individuals had set the fireworks off beside the busy main road, and that CCTV enquiries were now being carried out to trace those responsible. "This irresponsible behaviour placed road users and members of the public at risk and left smoldering fireworks by the roadside.
CCTV enquiries will be conducted and the individuals will be prosecuted." Inspector Corless of the Little Hulton neighbourhood team added: "This behaviour will not be tolerated, which could have resulted in a serious accident so close to the main A6.
