The 40-year-old Bleachers frontman, who frequently works with the likes of Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey, appeared on the Today Show recently, and fans are reading into a comment that he made about his songwriting process.

They wonder if it might have been a way of subtly dragging Billie over her big hit, “Lunch.” Keep reading to find out more… “It’s hard to write unless you’re really compelled, and sometimes what compels you is way more serious things,” Jack said during the interview. “I never feel like… You don’t hear a lot of great songs about like, one’s lunch order.” He continued, adding, “So the things you don’t really understand and cause you pain are usually things worth writing about.” An account on X (formerly Twitter) shared a snippet of the interview and implied that Jack was a “weirdo” for “shading Billie.” Some seemed to agree, rushing to share their thoughts on the topic.

However, others have rushed to Jack‘s defense, pointing out that he did not mention the “What Was I Made For” artist by name.
