Greenock murder cops charge third man over death of dad Michael Beaton

Police investigating the alleged murder of a man in Greenock have charged a third suspect.The 19-year-old man is due to appear in court later today after being arrested by officers probing the death of Michael Beaton.The 35-year-old dad was found with serious injuries on Drumfrochar Road in the town at around 7.20pm on Sunday, November 26 last year.He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment but sadly died a few hours later.Police Scotland have confirmed the latest update.

They said: “A third man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Michael Beaton in Greenock. Join the Daily Record's WhatsApp community here and get the latest news sent straight to your messages. “The 35-year-old was found with serious injuries on Drumfrochar Road around 7.20pm on Sunday, 26 November, 2023.“He was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, where he died a few hours later.“The 19-year-old man is due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Friday, 5 April, 2024.”A murder probe was launched after Michael's death with officers appealing for the public to help trace a white Audi Q2 vehicle that was believed to have been involved.Alexander McQuillan, 25, previously appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court charged with murder.

McQuillan, from Greenock, was also charged with allegedly stealing a car and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.Lewis Wiggins, 22, was also charged in connection with Mr Beaton's death.
