Greater Manchester's hour-by-hour weekend weather forecast with torrential rain and thunder on its way

Greater Manchester is bracing itself for a stormy weekend. After a day of unseasonably strong winds today (Friday) a yellow warning for wind has been issued covering the south of England and Wales whilst rain warnings have been issued in Scotland.

Whilst our region is expected to miss the worst of the conditions, it is still shaping up to be a potentially fairly miserable one weather-wise.

Heavy downpours have been forecast for both Saturday and Sunday which could well scupper many people's outdoor plans. The weather forecast has already seen some events in the region cancelled because of expected disruption. Temperatures will also feel much cooler than in recent weeks, peaking at around 19 degrees celsius on Saturday and 18C on Sunday whilst winds could pick up at times.
