Ben Shephard was blindsided by Andi Peters in the final episode of Good Morning Britain before Christmas, when the veteran presenter took a swipe at the star’s “big bucks” salary live on TV.The surprising comment came during Friday’s edition of the popular ITV morning show (22 December) when Andi made reference to Ben’s rumoured new career venture as a This Morning presenter, following the departure of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield earlier this year.

The incident occurred during a segment with musical guest Myleene Klass, 45 and her16 year old daughter 16, when Ben innocently commented: “Look at the Klasses, they're all class!” As it was revealed Ava shared her mother’s impressive musical talent.

Bafflingly though, following the simple comment, Andi, 53 soon remarked: “I see what he did there! That's why he gets the big bucks,” before adding: “allegedly.” Clearly taken aback by the remark, Ben then stared into the camera awkwardly before forcing out a laugh, which prompted co-host Ranvir Singh to intervene and swiftly change the subject.

The comment from Andi comes after The Sun reported Ben was due to pick up a salary of £555,000 when he becomes the new permanent host on This Morning.
