From Nepal to Manchester - one family's mission to spice up your meal times

Back in the 1970s, Gopal Dangol was beginning to make a name for himself as one of the most popular chefs in Kathmandu. Known for his skill and excellent food creations, it wasn't long before he was recognised by a restaurant in the UK who knew he had to be snapped up immediately.

After deciding that Manchester was a great place to call home for him and his family, Gopal and several of his colleagues decided to start a new venture that they aimed to be a milestone for Asian dining in the UK.

After changed plans about the original Kathmandu Project, Gopal decided to go his own way and start a new adventure - an altogether 'greater' project.

By 1986, The Great Kathmandu Tandoori Restaurant was born. A few upgrades and incredible menu changes later, the local family-run business is thriving, with guests choosing to eat in the much-loved restaurant seven days a week.
