A footballer has been named and pictured as the suspected burglar shot dead at a farm in the Peak District. Marcus Smith, 19, died after suffering fatal gunshot wounds after the alleged break-in at the property on Eccles Road, Chapel-en-le-Frith.
Derbyshire Police were called to reports of a burglary at the farm at around 1.20am on Wednesday (May 1). At the scene officers found Marcus, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
Marcus was named locally as the man who died in the incident, with Chesterfield Coroner's Court also confirming to the Manchester Evening News that the case has been referred to their office.
