A teen gunman who shot an innocent schoolgirl standing at a bus stop has been pictured for the first time. Rio Jones, 19, had been pursuing a man on an electric bike when he fired six gunshots on Upper Warwick Street in Toxteth.

One of the bullets struck the 15-year-old girl, who had been waiting at a bus stop with a friend, in the neck. It then travelled through her body and exited through her chest, causing "very serious injuries".

The intended "target" was hit by another of the shots, which passed through his arm, the Liverpool Echo reports. Jones, of Jermyn Street in Toxteth, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday accused of attempting to murder both victims.

The prosecution's opening statement on Wednesday afternoon said that the defendant was chasing the male through the streets - with both riding electric bikes - shortly after 5pm on March 1 this year when he fired six shots at him "at extremely close proximity".One bullet struck the other rider, with another hitting the girl - who "happened to be waiting at a bus stop just behind the target".
