Public documents painted a picture of a 'broken' relationship, seven years into their marriage.Yet, in a dramatic reversal last month, McIlroy announced before the US Open he and Stoll were not going through with the divorce and would stay together as a married couple."There have been rumours about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate," McIlroy told The Guardian. "Responding to each rumour is a fool's game.
Over the past weeks, Erica and I have realised that our best future was as a family together. Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning." Now, four weeks later, Stoll was seen once again by McIlroy's side as he began his defence of the Scottish Open title.
McIlroy had a strong start to the tournament, shooting a five-under-par 65, putting him just one stroke behind the leader, reports the Mirror.
