Music legend Sir Elton John is being immortalised in a unique waxwork at Madame Tussauds in London, showcasing his signature move of playing the keyboard with his legs in the air.
The intricate figure, marking his 50-year career, is currently being crafted and is set to be one of the museum's most complex creations to date.
According to Steve Blackburn, general manager at Madame Tussauds London, Sir Elton, 77, has consistently inspired the team to push boundaries with their designs, starting with his first waxwork in 1976, which was the museum's first talking and smiling figure. "Back in the 1970s, his first figure was our first talking figure, and in 2024 we’re determined to go big again. "The figure’s iconic, gravity-defying pose will capture the essence of Elton’s legendary early performances in a way that only Madame Tussauds London can. "This will be our most structurally complex figure to date in our centuries-old history and it is going to be a real showstopper when we unveil it later this year." The model will be showcased in the Impossible Festival exhibition at the attraction, set to launch later this year, featuring waxworks of iconic musicians from various eras.
The line-up includes figures of David Bowie during his Ziggy Stardust phase, Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, Amy Winehouse, and Queen's frontman Freddie Mercury.
