Singer Elle King has postponed a show set for Fort Worth, Texas, this Friday. It would have been her first show since her controversial performance at a Dolly Parton tribute at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on Jan.
19. During that set, King told the audience that she was “hammered” and appeared to be slurring her words on stage. She also forgot the words several times and cursed, the latter a big no-no at the staid Opry.
The Billy Bob’s Texas venue announced via social media Wednesday that the show has been postponed eight months, to Sept. 21. “Original event tickets will be accepted for the new date,” the announcement said. “Refunds are available at the point of purchase.
Thank you for your understanding!” Further details were not provided. The Grand Ole Opry apologized for the Jan. 19 incident on social media. “We deeply regret and apologize for the language that was used during last night’s second Opry performance,” the venue said. “For our first time at The Opry, it was a shame we all had to witness that.” King also struggled on New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash.
