Liam Brown was at the double from the penalty spot to take rampant East Kilbride eight points clear at the top of the Lowland League – and hit an 80-goal milestone for the season.A 2-0 win over Cumbernauld Colts in Saturday’s top of the table clash, courtesy of Brown converting twice in the second half from 12 yards after fouls on Scott Ferguson and Keir Samson in the box, saw Kilby net their 80th goal in all competitions this term.Mick Kennedy’s men are now 15 games unbeaten in the fifth tier, winning 13 games and drawing twice, and Brown insists their success so far this season is down to relentless hard work.He said: “We knew it was always going to be a hard game.

Colts are second for a reason. They are a good team and they made it difficult for us, although we probably weren’t at our best.“We ended up getting two penalties and it was up to me to put them away.

Thankfully, I did that so I was happy with that.“If we didn’t gamble in the box with Fergie and Keir getting into those positions, those penalties wouldn’t have happened so we need to give them a bit of credit for that as well.“We didn’t realise we’d scored 80 goals but it is always good to get figures like that.“It has been a great few months for us but it has been a lot of hard work as well.
