The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed scheduled payments including State Pension, Universal Credit and Carer’s Allowance which are due on the May Day bank holiday next Monday will land in bank accounts this Friday, April 28.
Payments from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) such as Child Benefit and Tax Credits will also arrive early.DWP also confirmed that Jobcentre Plus opening times are different for the bank holidays on May 1 and the King’s Coronation on May 8.
On both Mondays, offices and phone lines will be closed, this means that payments due on May 8 will also be made early, on Friday, May 5, 2023.
The bank holiday immediately after the Coronation of King Charles III on Saturday, May 6, has been set aside for volunteering and is being billed as ‘the big help out’.
